London & Essex Weddings & Events DJ
I'm Mark - a full-time DJ since 2002, based in Essex. Most weekends I'm playing a wedding, with corporate events and private parties filling in the rest, mostly round Essex and London with the odd trip further afield.
What makes me different is the hosting as much as the music. I've spent over 24 years on a microphone as well as behind the decks, so the announcements get made, the running order holds together, and the room never sits flat for long.
What I Do
Most of my work falls into three camps:
- Weddings - the first dance through to the last song, with the playlist planned round the two of you.
- Corporate events - Christmas parties, award nights and summer dos, where the evening has to run to time.
- Private parties - birthdays and celebrations where the brief is a packed dancefloor.
Nightclub Roots
I learned my trade in some of Essex's most demanding club rooms - the kind where a dancefloor tells you within thirty seconds whether it's working, and there's nowhere to hide if it isn't.
Along the way I became as much a presenter as a DJ. I still play the festival and event stages across Essex, and most weekends I'm at a wedding in London or the South East. The approach is the same for both: read the room, pick the records for the people in front of you, and never make it about me.
There's no cheese unless the room asks for it, and the mic never takes over from the music.
After all those years I know the moments that matter - the first dance, the singalong after the buffet, and the bit later on when everyone from your nan to your oldest mates is out on the floor at once, singing at the top of their lungs. Knowing exactly what to play, and when, comes from doing it full-time since 2002.
You might recognise my voice from Radio Essex, where I present the weekday shows to over 100,000 listeners. When I'm not on air, I'm the Resident DJ at Chelmsford City Racecourse and the voice behind Essex's biggest public events - Billericay Fireworks puts 15,000+ people in the park.

Will you just play music, or will you help get our guests involved?
I'm as comfortable on the microphone as I am behind the decks. Between presenting the weekday shows on Radio Essex and playing events round Essex for years, getting your guests involved comes naturally - and I pair that with knowing what to play and when, which is what keeps the atmosphere right.
Have you DJ'd at many weddings?
Yes. I've been a full-time DJ since 2002, and I've lost count of the weddings along the way.
Can we give you a playlist so you can get a feel for our music tastes?
Absolutely. I like it when couples get involved in the planning - tell me what you love and the atmosphere you're after, and I'll work the rest round it. You can add songs directly to your playlist through your personal online Planning Portal too, so you can drop favourites in whenever inspiration strikes.
Do you bring your own equipment, or do we need to supply anything?
I bring everything I need - the PA, the lighting, the decks - and I carry spares for the important bits, so if anything lets go it's sorted between songs rather than after. You don't need to supply a thing.
